After reading Maggie Mason’s experience with a cable trail I just had to try it. It seemed like something I would enjoy.
After signing some indemnity forms, which included wild animal attacks, we went outside to get strapped in.

Good lord! Getting into the gear for this event was quite an experience on its own. Once again, I look like a dork with my helmet and glasses.

The first few cables were the longest. Standing on the platform looking down to the next was breathtaking, a little scary, but mostly exciting.

We even came across an unexpected spectator. He was just chilling.

Honestly? I thought going on a cable trail would be much scarier. I figured I wouldn’t even be able to enjoy the scenery while flying across the landscape, screaming. But it was actually a very calming experience, and the scenery was pretty awesome. I would definitely do it again, but maybe next time I’d like to do something bigger, faster and ultimately scarier. I guess I’m looking for a rush.
Dorks
We used Skyway Trails in Hazyview, Mpumalanga, South Africa. They were very friendly and helpful and made us feel extremely comfortable. Thanks guys!
